Say hello to the "Edward Durrell Stone House" located in Manhattan, New York.
On East 64th Street in New York one house sticks out: No.130, which whas been hiding behind a concrete grill for much of the last 65 years! This brownstone house was originally built in 1878. It's architect Stone was an early proponent of modernism. He reimagined his own house and announced that the mid century had arrived on East 64th Street! However, at the time given how different it looked to the rest of the houses on the street, it did receive some criticism.
He distinguished the house with his trademark facade, a ‘lattice’ screen.
